.Meaning Behind The Word.
The meaning behind our titles[/center]
.alphas and their heir. The alphas are basically what you could call the lords of every wolf, living or not. Their word is the law around here, so you better listen, lest you face the consequences [in character]. The alpha's heir is a child of the alpha's who the alphas have picked as the most competent to be a leader. The alpha's heir will inherit the alpha position upon the death of his/her parents.
.betas and their heir. The betas are the second most powerful in the pack, usually being the alpha or alpha pair's closest friends, or the wolves the alpha pair consider perfect for the job. They follow only the alpha or alpha pair's orders. In case the both alpha's are away for some time [not dead, just on a mission or something], they will be in charge. If the alpha or alpha pair dies without specifying an heir, the betas will become the alphas. The beta's heir is beta version of the alpha's heir.
.the council.A group of hand picked wolves consisting of up to five, these wolves are the third most powerful in the pack. Their purpose is to advise the alpha(s) and beta(s) on important issues, like war. They tend to be older, more experienced wolves, but there have been fairly young council members as well. They will be in charge if the alpha(s) and the beta(s) are away [not dead, just on a mission or something]. In case both the alpha(s) and beta(s) die without specifying heirs, the council will vote on the new alpha and beta.
.envoys.These wolves are the official ambassadors of the pack, there is one envoy for each other pack in the kingdom, and one backup envoy in case envoy 1 or 2 cannot go. Envoy 1 is for Crimson Hills. Envoy 2 is for Firefly Island. Envoy 3 is the extra. These wolves tend to be polite, sharp, and cunning, with words like honey. They have to be like this, so as to not threaten the relations between the packs and cause civil wars. The envoys are very knowledgeable about the pack they visit. Envoy 3 is usually the most skilled envoy, as they have to be prepared to deal with either pack.
.deltas.Deltas, along with epsilons, make up the bulk of the pack. A delta's purpose is mainly fighting and guarding, etc., though if the need calls, they can be used for other jobs as well. They are considered the official army of the pack, and undergo strict training that brings out the best in them. The head delta is the most skilled and capable of all the Deltas, and leads the pack into battle if the alpha or beta are not leading it. There is no set limit on how many deltas there can be.
.epsilonsEpsilons, along with deltas, make up the bulk of the pack. A epsilon's purpose is mainly hunting, though if the need arises, they can be used for other jobs as well. They are considered the official hunters of the pack, and are responsible for feeding the pack, and train often to improve their agility and strength. The head epsilon is the most skilled and capable of all the epsilons, and can lead the pack on hunts if the alpha or beta are not leading it. There is not set limit on how many epsilons there can be.
.spies.It's exactly as it sounds. The spies are a group of up to four wolves who are quiet, stealthy, and cunning; they have to be, as they are the wolves that are sent out to spy on and observe other pack's doings and report if there is anything suspicious that is happening. They also observe the horse herds and report their doings. The head spy is the most skilled and capable of the spies, and usually is the one who trains new spies.
.messengers.The three messengers are fast and can endure running full speed for long distances. They are the wolves who carry messages to other packs in case there is a message that needs to be delivered quickly. Otherwise, these wolves help out with other jobs in their spare time, which they tend to have a lot of during peaceful times and very little during wartime. The head messenger is the most skilled messenger, and is almost always the one who trains the new messengers.
.entertainers.Entertainers are a group of up to five wolves who have talents in singing, humor, etc. rather than fighting or hunting. They keep the pack's moral up, especially during times of war, etc. The head entertainer is the entertainer with the best talents.
.pupsitters.A group of up to four wolves who are good with young wolves, particularly in the newborn to yearling age group. They also have to have moderate abilities in fighting, as there are things out there that will eat pups, take bears as an example. The head pupsitter is the most responsible out of the pupsitters, and is in charge of making sure that all pups under their care are taken care of properly.
.regular members. This group tends to be the third largest in the pack, and consists of wolves who have not been given a rank yet, wolves who are new to the pack, and wolves who have no knack for hunting, fighting, entertaining, etc. These wolves can be taken on hunts and led into battle, and can do an odd job here and there.
.regular pups. This group consists of the pups of lower ranking wolves, which includes epsilons, deltas, spies, entertainers, messengers, pupsitters, and out of kindness, any pups of the omegas and any pups the prisoners may have with them.
.high born pups. These pups are children of higher ranking wolves, and include the other pups of the alphas who are not their heir, other pups of the betas who are not their heir, and the council member's pups. It tends to be a relatively small group.
.omegas.One of the two worst ranks one can receive in the pack. Omegas tend to be lowly, cowardly, weak, and easily dominated individuals, and the only reason that they are not chased out of the pack is out of pure pity.
.prisoners.One of the two worst ranks one can receive in the pack. Prisoners are actually not really a part of the pack, and are merely wolves and sometimes horses that are captured in battle or kidnapped to use as a hostage. Though they are treated slightly better than omegas, prisoners are still poorly treated, unless they are an important hostage, like the heir of another pack/herd. Then they are treated fairly well.
